I’ve seen it so many times, not just in fire fighting, where the typical Australian business acumen is: cut costs and bolster profits… in the short term; and worry about the long term budget expenditures to fix todays mistakes, later on.
In the aviation rescue fire fighting business the big problem is we haven’t had an aircraft disaster for so long, management have grown complacent.
